In 1978 Paul Green, a long-time record collector turned his hobby into a business. Originally trading at record fairs and through mail order before opening Sounds Original in November 1983 opposite Northfields Station, Ealing, in what was previously a sweet shop for the Odeon cinema, turned nightclub and now more recently a church. In May 2000 the opportunity came to relocate to larger premises half a mile away to our current location in South Ealing, also on the Piccadilly Line. Having built up an international client base it’s ideal for record collecting tourists who often pop in on their way to and from Heathrow.
As of December 2017, we have also started to sell through our website. Click on the 'Shop' link in the top menu to view what’s available. It’s a big task to list all the stock we have, so please keep checking back as we will be regularly adding items. If you can't find what you’re looking for online and are unable to visit us, please do give us a call or send an email with the details. There are many more fast selling items available in-store that probably won't make it online.
All the images used in our online store are of the actual items for sale. Taking photos of vinyl and glossy covers can be tricky as they are highly reflective, but we’ve done our best to present them clearly to show the condition. Feel free to contact us with any questions, and we will do our best to get back to you within 24 hours.
Being closed from Sunday to Wednesday allows us time to check out other dealers and collectors throughout the UK in search of customer's wants.
If you have a wants list (preferably priced as this means we can buy specifically for you), you can phone or email if it's just a few odd records you are looking for and if we have them in stock, we can send them the same day.
Condition is King
Over the years we have established a reputation for dealing only in records that are in the very best condition, in fact, many collectors visit not only to buy records to add to their collections but to upgrade records they already have.
We are always wanting to buy top condition records and memorabilia from the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Small or large collections welcomed. Ex shop stock, reviewer and radio DJ collections all considered, and we can pick up at your address if necessary.
All major credit cards accepted in store as well as PayPal online.
